Black women dating out
My mother always taught me that it was the person who mattered. Our society views the ideal woman in light of gender roles. The ideal woman is feminine — docile, innocent, yet not naive; submissive, yet strong and attractive.
Marriageable Black women outnumber marriageable Black men by the millions. When I started dating my husband back in 1999, there was absolutely no place, discussion or support for Black women who were dating and/or married interracially.Necessity is the mother of invention when it comes to the work I do!It’s time to have an honest, open discussion about interracial relationships. No, I don’t mean gabbing about the latest drama between Olivia and Fitz.It isn’t a horrible responsibility, but people get confused by the fact that a black woman can date outside her race and still remain true to her family.
The weight of the family struggles does get put on the woman because she is incredibly adaptable and strong.
So, a black woman could be hesitant to date another race for fear of being judged even more. For those who still consider stereotypes to be fact, black women are framed as hypersexual, exotic women. But it can be specific at times, depending on the person who penetrates that circle of connectedness.
A black woman does not want disapproval from this circle just because she brought an “outsider” to join the ranks.
The twisted rules apply to different types of men and women.
Black women, for example, must play an entirely rigged ball game as compared to black men when they only date outside their race.
This caters to the idea that she carries hardships first and asks questions later.
