Throughout the month of February, there will be several Federal awareness events taking place to highlight the issue of teen dating violence, such as webinars or conference calls.

Some teens may become too overwhelmed with problems and may feel that running away is their only way to escape them. According to the National Runaway Switchboard, “Every day between 1.3 and 2.8 million runaway and homeless youth live on the streets of America.

One out of every seven children will run away from home before the age of 18.”1 Why do teens run away?

Digital dating abuse is the use of technology such as texting and social media to stalk, harass or intimidate a partner.

This behavior is a form of emotional or verbal abuse that is being perpetrated in an online setting.
